[Well, as some of you might recall, Haruki Suzumiya has been MIA for the better part of this whole affair so far. But now, finally, he's made a full recovery. A full recovery and... he's gone back to his house to confirm that things have recovered. He's inspecting it inside and out so you might happen across him during that, particularly if you're Neku or Shiki.

But aside from that, after he's half-way through this inspection he flips open the journal and-]

Oi, guys, I'm back. [...It's useless to say "did he miss anything" right? Just glancing at the entries while he was out shows he did] So everyone report in.

What can he say which doesn't sound stupid. He taps his finger on the journal three times before coming up with something suitable]

...Yeah. The Sokka I know is my rival, and he's a suitable one. This one here now is a sack of shit.

[...But that's not helpful, is it? Damn. He sighs again, trying to come up with someone to say]

But...! I'm sure your brother will be back! Positive, even!

[Rival? And a suitable one? Rival for what? Was he - had he just paid Sokka a sort of weird twisted Haruki-like compliment?

...probably. Because then he follows it up with 'sack of shit,' and -- wait a minute, what's this Sokka done that's so bad?

And then the reassurance which doesn't really reassure at all. That's easy to brush over, because either he comes back... or she changes... or she's stuck with this... this forever.]

I hope so. But - okay, I didn't spend too long talking to him once I found out he... wasn't the same, but what did he do that made you call him that?

[Vaguely wondering if she should bother to feel defensive about this person at all.]

He didn't seem so bad when I talked to him this morning. A little... clueless and not as... quick and kind of... distant, but not like he was a threat or anything like that.

He's... [...Sigh. He doesn't want to admit something horrible to his sister of all people. He shakes his head before, lamely]

[His tone makes it so clear how much he's censoring himself to try to protect her. Or maybe it doesn't, but he feels like it does]

[And then he modifies the filter at the bottom. Makes it so it includes Katara in the filter as opposed to locking out everyone but him and Sokka. He can't exactly point to it but...]

[...And then after a pause with the greatest sincerity she's probably heard from him since he talked about how big Earth was-] ...I'm sorry.

[There is a very, very long pause. Far longer than listening to that conversation would be.

He sounds... worse than Jet.]

That. Is not Sokka.

[She's not angry at Haruki, but she is practically trembling with fury. Her brother is -- he likes girls, sure, and is a flirt and all but he never - that - just made her feel dirty.]

Yeah. I kinda told him that.

[Haruki knows it's useless, but he offers her a weak smirk. He knows he can't comfort her - hell he's not even good friends with her. But somehow, this makes him think this must be like when he met Kyon... when Kyon rejected him. Hell, maybe it's worse. But he knew that hurt like it was tearing him up inside]

[There's the rage at the way he talked about women, and the total jackassery of him, but there's also a deeper sting, salt on a wound-

She's known for ages that her bending caused a rift between them, and caused Sokka pain. She's known that their life was hard. But to hear Sokka's voice talk about... himself that way...]

I have to go.

[Go and do what, she's not exactly sure, but it will likely involve crying, screaming, and bending, and not necessarily in that order.]
