Fifty-Second Explosion

[Voiced]

...Oi, any of Bunny's friends. Rena, porcupine, Shiki you too if you guys didn't notice yet. Usagi Tsukino's staying over at my place for a few days. If she's staying here she probably doesn't want to be bugged but whatever.

You know maybe I should hit up those other ones again... Celes and the othe- oh! Rika! Let's go out and get some lunch later today! You don't got any notable lines anyway so you don't need to practice like the rest of the Brigade, so let's go out this afternoon! Oh and Mitsuru when is my stage gunna be done?

[...Pause, grunt] Oi! Rikku! Now's long enough! Let's make good on out bet! Meet me outside House #10. I'll be waiting this morning to make it snappy!

[Action]

[And true to his word, Haruki has kidnapped Shiki's usual spot of late. Namely, he's going to be on the porch of House #10 all morning reading a book or something. Anyone is free to run into him for whatever reason; housemates, Brigaders, random other people walking down the street... go for it.]

Glad you like it and [Voice]

...Nothing.

[Voice]

[identity profile] preciousgeneral.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
But you specifically mentioned me.

...Just checking how you're doing. ...Or something.

I'm fine. But what do you mean by "or something"?

[And thank goodness Celes is somewhat oblivious when it comes to men.]

[Voice]

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
Well this place sucks. Wanted to make sure you're settling fine and all. ...I guess.

[Hey, this is just a sixteen year old kid checking in on a depressed adult. Totally]

It's not that bad. Anything is better than what I came from.

It's somewhat like my hometown, but without all the soldiers and machines.

[She's not that much older, only 18.]

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
...Huh. Your hometown's this small?

[Someone tell her to stop sounding like she's ancient then. This kid is convinced she's like twenty-something]

Many of the towns aren't very large. Vector was mostly home for the Imperial Palace and the Magitek Research Facility, so many lived in the palace itself. There was a small town nearby also, that would be about the size of Luceti, maybe a bit bigger.

But this was how it was a year ago, I cannot say if this is true now, or if it even still exists.

[Yeah, she tends to be like that. And I thought Haruki was wanting to keep her away from talking about her world? But then, talking about how it was isn't so bad.]

I'm from Nishinomiya. It's a decent enough sized city so this whole place feels tiny to me. Not to mention the lack of proper electricity and such. I mean I've been here fifteen months now. Jeez.

[Yeah, well, he sucks at conversation. He really does]

And in that amount of time there hasn't been any attempt to at least improve the situation here if we can't find a way out?

From what I can see, it isn't as if we lack in resources. Maybe we lack in knowledge?

[Voice]

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a lack of motivation. No one wants to believe they're going to be here long enough to need it. Doing things like that is admitting that we're going to remain.

[/surprisingly deep moment]

It's strange though. Even if we were to leave, more people will come later, right? At least it would be something to do while we try to figure out a solution, and it would help everyone in the long run.

It is tempting to consider it, especially knowing that there are actually some people who would not object to remaining here, especially if we could find a way to stop the experiments.

There's been some changes: I mean both the bars weren't here originally, some people opened up shops, my SOS-Brigade, the barracks in the southern part of the village was built, as was a lake house down at the southern lake... but I mean I guess it's weird, yeah.

[Voice]

[identity profile] preciousgeneral.livejournal.com 2009-08-04 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
It might be something to consider. I'm sure the shops would appreciate having access to some more advanced tools as would the people. It is just a matter of being able to make use of the resources to build such tools, if the right resources even do exist.

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-08-04 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
Well there's enough stuff to do anything here in theory, provided that you want to invest all the time and manpower and energy to set it up. I doubt we have enough people for an industrial revolution or something.

[Voice]

[identity profile] preciousgeneral.livejournal.com 2009-08-04 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
No, of course not for that, and likely not enough people with knowledge of more advanced technology.

But any advancement of a society takes time, and sadly usually comes through war. It would be a good change to see advancement without war, if that is even possible.

'Course it's possible! Japan's been advancing all over the place back home and that's all after our big war ended.
